The Russian automaker Moskvich announced that in July 2026, 34% more Moskvich M-series cars were registered in Russia than in June. The lineup includes the five-seater Moskvich M70 crossover and the flagship seven-seater Moskvich M90, with regular deliveries to dealerships starting in late May of this year.
The growth was recorded following the second full month of sales for the M70 and M90 models. The positive sales dynamics are attributed to the expanded presence of the M-series in dealerships and increased interest in the lineup.
The Moskvich M70 is offered in two configurations with 150 hp and 200 hp engines and front-wheel drive. The Moskvich M90, meanwhile, is equipped with a two-liter turbocharged 200 hp engine and an all-wheel drive system. Both models are based on MG brand crossovers.
History of the Moskvich car brand
The Moskvich plant is one of the oldest in the country. It was launched back in 1930, and the legendary Moskvich cars were produced here for decades.
Production of the M70 and M90 models started in mid-December 2025, and the first "live" premieres took place in February 2026. Both crossovers are based on models from the Chinese company SAIC – rebadged MG HS and MG RX9.
The Moskvich M-series competes with other domestic crossovers. These include the Moskvich 3 and Moskvich 8 from the same brand, Lada Vesta Cross and Lada Aura, as well as Amberauto crossovers (A5, A7) and the UMO 8 hybrid, assembled at Moskvich facilities. Chinese models assembled in Russia are also considered direct rivals – for example, Haval Jolion and Chery Tiggo 7.
