In Moscow Oblast, a private landowner was fined for the first time for Sosnowsky's hogweed, detected using digital monitoring. The violation was identified in the Ruzsky municipal district, and the fine amounted to 150,000 rubles.
The area was filmed by a drone, after which the materials were analyzed by an artificial intelligence-based system. It recognized the dangerous plant, identified the plot, and generated a resolution, which was sent to the owner via the "Gosuslugi" portal.
The legal entity that owns the land was held accountable. The regional Ministry of Agriculture expects that the pilot project will become the basis for launching such control in other municipalities.
Digital monitoring is especially important for private territories: they account for about 70% of residents' complaints about hogweed. The new system allows for faster identification of overgrown areas, establishment of owners, and enforcement of violation elimination.
At the same time, the region continues to treat municipal lands. The first stage was completed on an area of about 23.5 thousand hectares, and repeated treatment was carried out on more than 18.3 thousand hectares. The work is planned to be fully completed by the end of August.
