Preparing for series production: Project T20 tugboat and "Tobolsk-3" ferry, built at Omsk shipyard, launched

The vessels will begin operating on the Irtysh river crossing in 2027

Omsk shipbuilders launched the Project T20 tug-pusher and the "Tobolsk-3" ferry, intended for operation on the Irtysh river crossing along the Tobolsk — Bekerevo route. The vessels were built at the facilities of PKF "Tekhmettorg", reported Vitaly Khotsenko, Governor of Omsk Oblast.

The crossing will be able to operate around the clock throughout the entire navigation period — from May to November, and during the inter-navigation period, the vessels can withstand frosts down to –40 °C.

The Project T20 tug-pusher is a self-propelled twin-screw ice-class vessel capable of pushing barges even in shallow waters.

Characteristics of the Project T20 tug-pusher:

  • Length — 20.5 m
  • Width — 6 m
  • Side height — 3 m
  • Draft — 1.5 m
  • Gross tonnage — 143 t
  • Power plant capacity — 411 kW
  • Crew — 3 people

According to Khotsenko, PKF "Tekhmettorg" plans to establish serial production of tug-pushers and ferries for the entire Siberia.

Characteristics of the passenger ferry:

  • Length — 60 m
  • Width — 40 m
  • Side height — 3 m
  • Draft — 0.8 m
  • Deadweight — 120 t
  • Load capacity — 250 t
  • Passenger capacity — up to 50 people

The non-self-propelled vessel can move in broken ice up to 30 cm, which corresponds to the climatic conditions of the region.

PKF "Tekhmettorg" signed a contract for the construction of two ferries with the Tobolsk administration in early 2025. The contract value was estimated at almost 446 million rubles.

The vessels were laid down in the spring of the same year. The launch of ferries from Tobolsk to Bekerevo is scheduled for 2027.
