The most economical model in the Lada lineup has become more affordable. The company has reduced prices for all trim levels of the bi-fuel Lada Vesta CNG. Experts noticed the corresponding changes in the updated August price lists. With a discount of 160 thousand rubles, the basic Comfort version now costs 1.721 million rubles.
What's Under the Hood of the Lada Vesta CNG
The car is equipped with a 1.6-liter naturally aspirated VAZ-21129 CNG engine, which can run on both gasoline and methane. On gasoline, the engine develops 106 hp, and when using natural gas, it develops 96 hp.
The Lada Vesta CNG has three trim levels: Praktik, Drive, and Techno. In each, the engine is paired with a five-speed manual transmission.
What Powers Lada's Most Economical Model
The Lada Vesta CNG is equipped with a fourth-generation gas cylinder system. On methane alone, the sedan can travel about 320 kilometers, and with a fully filled gas cylinder and fuel tank, the total range exceeds 1000 kilometers.
According to AVTOVAZ, using methane can reduce fuel costs by two to three times compared to gasoline. In addition, in a number of Russian regions, owners of natural gas vehicles can count on transport tax benefits.
The 90-liter gas cylinder, designed for 22 cubic meters of compressed methane, is located in the trunk.
What Other Gas Car Options Are There?
The Vesta CNG is not the only bi-fuel model in Russia. The closest analogue is the Lada Largus CNG wagon with the same 1.6-liter engine and a 90-liter cylinder. It is sold in both passenger and commercial versions (wagon and van).
Among commercial vehicles, the GAZelle NEXT CNG stands out. On four gas cylinders, the van travels up to 750 kilometers (300 of which are on gas), and the use of compressed gas reduces operating costs by 40–50% compared to gasoline and diesel.
