Rostec's IGLA Rocket cartridge accelerates bullet over 1000 m/s: new .308 Win competitor for hunters unveiled

The ammunition received an optimized component composition to maintain safe pressure during firing

Rostec unveiled a new domestic hunting cartridge, IGLA Rocket, designed to replace foreign .308 Win caliber counterparts. The ammunition boasts a high initial bullet velocity exceeding 1000 m/s and is intended for use in modern hunting rifles.

High velocity ensures a flatter trajectory and increased accuracy at range. The manufacturer notes that the new cartridge's characteristics make it suitable for use with short-barreled rifles as well.

According to the state corporation, developers managed to increase bullet velocity without exceeding permissible chamber pressure parameters. This was achieved by selecting a special component composition that ensures weapon safety during firing.

Following the departure of several foreign suppliers from the Russian market, domestic manufacturers began expanding the production of their own hunting ammunition. Rostec stated that the IGLA Rocket is comparable in its parameters to foreign solutions and can compete with them.
