Russians increasingly trust chatbots for job searches: new research on neural networks

They are even willing to entrust digital assistants with document verification, but most leave the final decision to a human

Chatbots are gradually becoming assistants in job searching. More and more Russians are ready to entrust them with the most routine tasks — from selecting vacancies to sending resumes. This conclusion was reached by experts from "Avito Rabota" and the HRMost recruitment automation service, who surveyed 2,000 people aged 18 to 65.

Youth for AI recruiters, older generation still observing

The most popular function was assistance with finding suitable vacancies. 25% of the study participants are ready to delegate it to a digital assistant. Another 23% agree to entrust the chatbot with automatic application for vacancies and confirmation of resume receipt.

Young people aged 18 to 24 are most open to such technologies. Almost half of young respondents — 49% — named the availability of digital assistants at any time of day as their main advantage.

Job seekers aged 35–44 also showed a high level of trust. They more often than others note quick responses and the ability to go through selection stages at a convenient pace.

Older people are more cautious about such tools. Among Russians aged 55–64, only 16% are willing to use chatbots for job searching. At the same time, they are more likely than others to consider the absence of fear of making mistakes when communicating with a digital assistant as a plus.

Routine tasks can be given to a machine, but the final word is left to a human

The study showed that Russians are ready to trust bots primarily with routine work. Thus, 16% of respondents are ready to entrust technical screening and initial interviews to a chatbot, 15% — discussion of terms, 14% — scheduling interviews, and 10% — collecting documents before starting work.

13% of Russians are ready to complete the entire employment process with the help of a digital assistant. At the same time, the study showed an increase in trust in such technologies: in June, this figure was 9%.

If the final decision remains with a human, the attitude towards automation becomes even more positive. In this case, 32% are ready to entrust the chatbot with collecting and initial verification of documents, 28% — organizing interviews and reminders, 26% — initial verification of professional skills, 25% — technical screening and answering typical questions, 17% — document processing and onboarding, and 13% — conducting interviews.

How Russians want to communicate with AI during hiring

Despite the development of voice services, text remains the most convenient way to communicate with chatbots. 44% of respondents prefer it. Another 21% choose a mixed communication format, 19% — surveys and tests, and 16% — voice interaction.

Analysts said that the market is gradually getting used to automated hiring. More and more candidates perceive chatbots as a tool that helps them go through the job search stages faster. At the same time, most still believe that the final decision on hiring should be made by a human.
