Capabilities of the "Volna Kupol Garant" system against Starlink satellites revealed

The system overloads receiving antennas with a directed radio signal using a radio beam

The "Volna Kupol Garant" electronic warfare system is capable of temporarily disrupting the operation of Starlink satellites, causing terminals in its coverage area to lose connection with the orbital constellation. This was stated by Dmitry Kuzyakin, General Designer of the Center for Integrated Unmanned Solutions.

According to him, the complex uses a narrow-beam high-frequency radio beam that overloads the satellites' receiving antennas. As a result, they stop receiving signals from ground terminals.

"Volna" does not physically destroy the spacecraft, but for the duration of the "illumination," it blocks the ability of a specific satellite to serve ground terminals. This means that in the "Volna" operating zone, Starlink terminals stop working. Satellites simply no longer hear them.

According to Kuzyakin, after the complex ceases operation, individual satellites require several more minutes to restore functionality, which further enhances the suppression effect.

The expert also emphasized that modern armed conflicts are increasingly dependent on space infrastructure. In his assessment, orbital satellite constellations today directly influence the use of unmanned systems and communication tools.
