SAM systems taught to find targets faster: Belarus updates key optoelectronic system

The TV-TP now reacts faster to objects and can operate with greater accuracy

Belarus has modernized the TV-TP optoelectronic system for medium and short-range anti-aircraft missile systems. After the update, it received automatic target tracking and improved observation characteristics.

The main change is the introduction of an automatic target tracking system (ATTS). The ATTS allows the system to independently acquire and track an object without direct operator involvement, according to the State Authority for Military Industry of Belarus.

Specialists also increased the system's viewing angles, expanding its capabilities for target search and control.

The combination of thermal imaging (IR) and television channels in fully digital equipment allows detecting, tracking, and engaging targets in passive mode day, night, and in any weather.

The operating range of the updated system via television and thermal imaging channels meets the requirements of the modernized Pechora, Kvadrat, and Osa SAM systems.

The modernized OES TV-TP was developed to replace the Soviet Karat television-optical sight. The latter's task is to help the operator of the anti-aircraft missile system visually detect a target, accurately determine its direction, and then automatically track it so that the guidance system can correctly direct the missile.
