The MiG-35 fighter can be effectively used to combat drones, although it was originally designed to perform a wider range of combat missions. This was stated to "Pervyy Tekhnicheskiy" by Nikolai Chikunov, a Category I design engineer at the A.I. Mikoyan Design Bureau.
The MiG-35 is really good, although it wasn't conceived for this. It effectively shoots down drones, the so-called Deep Strike. It is the best aircraft in this component, possibly even in the world – according to our pilots.
According to Chikunov, the high degree of project readiness may explain the continuation of work on the MiG-35 amidst the reduction of other promising programs of the Design Bureau.
The "Voennoye Obozreniye" publication, citing foreign sources, reported that the production of MiG-35 fighters may be revived for transfer to the North Korean Air Force.
