The Orenburg Metal Structures Plant has developed a perforated beam for the construction of buildings and structures, according to a publication in the Rospatent database. The product is an I-beam with holes in the web, arranged in two rows in a staggered pattern. The holes have a hexagonal shape.
According to the developers, this design allows reducing the weight and material consumption of the beam while maintaining its load-bearing capacity. The hexagonal shape of the holes reduces stress concentration in the web, which increases the reliability and durability of building structures. The beam can be used for columns, roof beams, and floor beams.
The technical characteristics of specific models are not disclosed in the patent. Such beams can be used in the construction of industrial and warehouse buildings, as well as in facilities where it is important to be able to lay engineering communications through perforated holes without additional costs.
