Baltiysky Zavod (part of OSK) has commenced the first stage of sea trials for the cruise liner "Vladimir Zhirinovsky": this is the first passenger liner of its class built in Russia in the last 60 years. The PV300VD project vessel entered the waters of the Gulf of Finland, where all key systems will be tested under real conditions for a week, "Pervy Tekhnichesky" was informed by the OSK press service. The liner will be handed over to the customer in autumn 2026.
During the trials, specialists will check the operation of the main diesel generators at all operating modes – from 20 to 110% power. Communication and navigation systems, vessel maneuverability from the wheelhouse and local posts, as well as general ship systems: water supply, sewage, fire installations, and ventilation will also be tested. Factory workers, equipment contractors, representatives of the Shipping Register, and the customer are on board.
After the first stage, the liner will return to the shipyard for completion. The second stage of trials will take place at sea – there, maneuverability characteristics, illumination, noise, and vibration will be checked. On the eve of the trials, the vessel was consecrated by a priest from the Nikolsky Naval Cathedral.
The four-deck liner is designed for 310 passengers. Restaurants, bars, swimming pools, and spas will be equipped on board. After commissioning, the vessel will be able to make cruises along inland waterways with access to the Black, Azov, and Caspian Seas.
