Sakhalin Oblast has launched its first non-test, but full-fledged delivery of medical cargo by drone, the regional government reported. The "Aist" aircraft-type drone from "Drone Solutions" company covered 32 km from Korsakov District Hospital to Ozyorskoye village and back, transporting medicines and blood samples.
The entire flight took 19 minutes – twice as fast as by car along the same route. To preserve temperature-sensitive materials, the drone was equipped with a thermobox, which is powered by the onboard network and maintains the set mode regardless of the weather conditions. Real-time monitoring was provided by an identification platform based on the state system "ERA-GLONASS".
The air corridor is planned to be used for urgent deliveries and during periods of impassable roads, for example, after winter blizzards. The flight was organized by "Aurora BAS" company, which previously participated in the first civilian flight of "Aist" from Sakhalin to the mainland. The project is considered a pilot for testing medical logistics scenarios throughout the Far East.
