Creating industry-specific artificial intelligence solutions that can be integrated into production is the most promising direction for AI development. This opinion was expressed by Alexander Wagner, Rector of South Ural State University (SUSU).
Artificial intelligence today is becoming one of the key tools for the development of science and industry.
SUSU is developing AI solutions for the following industries:
- metallurgy
- mechanical engineering
- energy
- instrument engineering
This includes systems for monitoring the condition of machine tools and equipment, predicting accidents, controlling product quality, analyzing technological modes, and optimizing electricity consumption, Wagner explained. In parallel, scientists are creating digital twins of metallurgical units (a virtual copy of the production process), intelligent sensor systems, and improving machine vision for mobile robots, he added.
Wagner added that an equally promising direction is materials science. AI technologies accelerate the development of fundamentally new materials.
Industrial partners help SUSU develop educational programs in the field of AI. As a result, graduates not only know how to use digital services but also create them from scratch for specific enterprise tasks, the university rector concluded.
