The Russian Ministry of Education and Science proposed to transfer the entire university admission process online. According to RIA "Novosti", the agency developed a draft resolution on launching the digital platform "Universities", which should replace paper applications and personal visits to admission committees.
The experiment will begin on September 1, 2026, and will last until December 31, 2028. The platform will cover the full cycle: from submitting documents and confirming enrollment to checking into dormitories and receiving digital copies of student documents. For universities, typical cloud solutions will be created for campus management, analytics, and performance monitoring. Participation in the experiment will be voluntary.
Essentially, the state is trying to close educational bureaucracy into a single digital circuit, freeing applicants from the need to physically transport documents between cities. The platform will also recommend additional education and internships to students, turning it into a full-fledged career navigator. The main risk is the degree of integration with the existing "Gosuslugi" system and the readiness of regional universities to switch to a cloud model.
