Not a single accident has been recorded since the start of operation of unmanned KamAZ trucks. This was stated by Sergey Nazarenko, Chief Designer of innovative vehicles at PAO "KAMAZ" (part of Rostec).
Yes, no accidents have been recorded, that's correct.
According to him, sometimes drivers start to misbehave and try to "provoke" the unmanned truck. They drive, "performing pirouettes in front of it", to test its reaction. The autonomous transport control system handles such scenarios and prevents accidents.
The launch of a fully autonomous driving mode for KamAZ trucks without operator involvement is scheduled for 2028. Currently, a logistics specialist remotely monitors the trucks' route and intervenes in very rare cases. The vehicle travels approximately 99.9% of the way independently.
