Training flight ended with the plane crashing in Odintsovo district

The fifth-generation Su-57 fighter jet crashed in the Odintsovo urban district of the Moscow region. According to Kommersant, citing a source, the pilot managed to eject, and there were no casualties.

According to preliminary data, the crash occurred during a training flight, and the aircraft was not carrying weapons. The Investigative Committee of Russia has already initiated a criminal case under the article on violation of flight rules or preparation for them. In addition to the Investigative Committee, military experts and a commission from the Ministry of Defense will establish the causes of the accident.

The Su-57 is a Russian fifth-generation multirole fighter developed to replace the heavy Su-27 fighter. It is designed to destroy air, ground, and surface targets, possesses high maneuverability, and has a low radar signature.

This is not the first crash of this type of aircraft: in 2019, the first production Su-57 crashed in the Khabarovsk Krai, also during a test flight. At that time, the cause was cited as a control system failure.
