The need to increase computing power for artificial intelligence (AI) has led to a rise in the cost of components for gaming computers. This was stated by Grigory Gordienko, director of the cybersports hub "Mayak Arena".
There is no shortage in the sense of "nothing to buy" – you can buy everything. The problem is in the price and the deadlines, and it has become noticeably more acute over the past year.
According to Gordienko, since the end of 2025, the cost of DRAM (dynamic random-access memory) has increased several times, not due to sanctions or logistics problems. Memory modules are being bought up for data centers. Users and owners of esports clubs are essentially competing for chips with companies building AI infrastructure, the expert explained.
Although the situation with component supplies has become more stable compared to 2022-2023, clubs still have to monitor exchange rate fluctuations and plan purchases in advance, Gordienko emphasized. In such conditions, cyber arenas invest more funds in upgrading equipment rather than replacing it.
Currently, the cost of a professional gaming computer has started to be measured in hundreds of thousands of rubles and continues to grow. And for clubs, maintaining gaming stations becomes the largest expense item, Gordienko concluded.
