The number of 53T6 missiles protecting Moscow from a nuclear strike has been revealed

Control is carried out via the Don-2N radar

The Russian army is armed with 68 strategic high-speed 53T6 short-range interceptor missiles based in silos. This was reported by the publication "Tekhnosfera Rossiya" with reference to the calculations of foreign researchers.

These specific munitions are designed exclusively for intercepting intercontinental ballistic missiles in areas around Moscow.

It is known from open sources that the anti-missiles are capable of developing a colossal speed of up to 5.5 km/s (about Mach 18) and are designed to guarantee the destruction of enemy warheads in the atmosphere with a counter nuclear explosion of 10 kilotons.

The group is controlled fully automatically using the super-radar "Don-2N". Currently, within the framework of the A-235 modernization program, the silos are being gradually rearmed with new non-nuclear 53T6M interceptors.
