New "Korvet" system protects Russian ports: detects BECs, underwater vehicles, and combat swimmers

The system integrates radar, sonar, and optical surveillance for round-the-clock water area control

Russian ports and important coastal facilities have begun to be covered by the new "Korvet" system, designed to detect marine saboteurs, uncrewed boats, and autonomous uninhabited underwater vehicles. The system was developed by the "Morskoe podvodnoe oruzhie – Gidropribor" concern.

"Korvet" integrates the "Neva-B" and "Neva-BS" radar stations, the "Mayak-S" sonar station, the "Neva-TV" television-optical module, and a mobile control center into a single system. The complex simultaneously monitors the surface, underwater, and coastal environment, automatically detects, tracks, and classifies targets, determines their coordinates, and transmits information to the operator.

According to the developer, the system is capable of simultaneously tracking several dozen objects. One of the key features of the complex is the ability to place sonar stations at a distance of more than 15 kilometers from the protected object. This significantly expands the control zone and allows for earlier detection of underwater threats.

The complex is designed to protect naval bases, ports, ships, and other important coastal infrastructure facilities. In the future, its capabilities are planned to be expanded by integrating air space control and drone detection systems, which will create a unified system for protection against air, surface, and underwater threats.
