Giant cofferdam for Lena River bridge construction installed in Yakutia

The structure, over 17 meters high and weighing more than 4,000 tons, will form the basis of the central support of the crossing

The construction of one of Yakutia's most important bridge projects has entered a new phase. The second cofferdam – a huge structure needed to create the foundation of the future bridge – has been launched into the Lena River. The head of the republic, Aysen Nikolaev, announced the completion of this stage.

The new cofferdam will serve as the basis for the construction of central support No. 9. Its diameter exceeds 46 meters, its height is more than 17 meters, and its total weight, including installed equipment, is over 4 thousand tons.

This is one of the most complex and critical stages of construction. After the completion of these works, the pile foundation of the central pylon – a key element of the future bridge – will begin to be installed.
Aysen Nikolaev, Head of Yakutia

According to the design and estimate documentation, the cost of the bridge is 175 billion rubles.

The strategic project "Construction of a road bridge crossing over the Lena River in the area of Yakutsk" is being implemented within the framework of the national project "Infrastructure for Life".
