Farewell, dot-com: VKontakte fully migrated to the national domain zone .ru

The domain change coincided with the removal of the holding's applications from Google Play and App Store

VKontakte has completed its transition to the single domain VK.RU. The company urged users to abandon the old VK.COM address and access the social network through the Russian domain zone.

The new address operates on domestic infrastructure and is independent of foreign services. VK stated that this should make access faster and more reliable.

Nothing will change for users: accounts, messages, settings, and publications will remain in place. It is enough to replace the old link in bookmarks with VK.RU.

The migration coincided with the disappearance of the holding's applications from foreign stores. On July 16, VKontakte, Max, Odnoklassniki, Mail.ru, Dzen, and other services were removed from Google Play, and they disappeared from the App Store back in late June. Apple explained the decision by sanctions restrictions.
