The tunneling of the first inter-station tunnel between "Novomoskovskaya" and "Sosenki" stations of the Troitskaya metro line has been completed in Moscow. The tunnel boring machine "Olga" covered 1.6 km under the Sosenka River and Kaluga Highway. The maximum tunneling depth reached 31 meters, as announced by Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin on his Telegram channel.
Simultaneously, the tunneling of the right tunnel on the same section is underway, with 30% of the work completed. It is planned to be finished in November. Last autumn, the second stage of the Troitskaya line construction began. In total, the southern section will include almost 17 km of line and six stations: "Sosenki", "Rakitki", "Desna", "Kedrovaya", "Vatutinki", and "Troitsk".
The Troitskaya branch will become one of the longest radii of the Moscow Metro and the backbone of the TiNAO transport framework. It will relieve the demand on the Sokolnicheskaya, Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya, and Butovskaya lines by 20%. The first section already has 11 stations in operation, where passengers are transported by Russian "Moskva-2024" trains.
