The modernized version of the long-range drone "Geran-4 Seeker" has received a real-time video transmission system, a secure command and telemetry channel, and the ability for the operator to select a target at the final stage of the flight. The update to the platform was reported by the authors of the Telegram channel RussianArms.
The main difference of the new version is the implementation of the "human-in-the-loop" principle. Instead of fully autonomous movement along pre-set coordinates, the operator can receive images from the onboard optoelectronic system and adjust guidance directly before reaching the target. This solution increases the accuracy of work on objects whose position may change.
Another important change is the new communication architecture. Relay drones are used for data transmission, allowing for stable information exchange over long distances without the use of satellite terminals.
It is also reported that the updated guidance system uses an optical channel, thanks to which the drone navigates by terrain images and visual signs of the object. This principle reduces dependence on satellite navigation and increases resistance to attempts to spoof the navigation signal.
