Il-114-300 Receives Type Certificate with Initial Weather and Runway Restrictions

Flights in icing conditions and from unpaved runways have already been confirmed during tests and are awaiting approval

Rosaviatsiya has issued a type certificate for the Il-114-300 turboprop aircraft with initial operating conditions, TASS was informed by the agency's press service. The document establishes the basic scope of application for the aircraft, and as additional tests are completed, restrictions will be lifted.

Currently, flights are permitted at temperatures from minus 9 to plus 25 degrees Celsius, with takeoff and landing only on paved surfaces. Operation is not allowed in icing conditions, during thunderstorms, or on wet and contaminated runways. The geographical range is limited to the 70th parallel. This is standard practice: the developer first confirms the characteristics necessary for initial operation, and then expands the scope of application.

Additional tests are already underway. According to Daniil Brenerman, Managing Director of PAO "Il", the aircraft has performed takeoff and landing from unpaved runways, passed checks at minus 42 degrees Celsius in Yakutia, and in icing conditions in the Arkhangelsk region. Basing at the 81st parallel and operation up to the 89th parallel have been confirmed. The results have been submitted to the Aviation Register of Russia and, after review, will form the basis for amending the type certificate data sheet.
