The company "Nizhegorodskie Gruzovye Avtomobili" has commissioned a highly automated production line for camshafts for 4-cylinder G 2.5 diesel engines. These engines are installed on "Sobols", "Gazelles", medium-duty "Valdais", and "Citymax 8" buses.
The new equipment operates almost without human intervention — the automation level has reached 90%. Machine vision technologies are integrated into the quality control system, and the control center uses infrared sensors to check each part against a standard across 30 parameters.
The technological cycle includes more than two dozen operations: from blank profiling to precision mechanical and thermal treatment, finish grinding, polishing, and assembly. Cast iron blanks for future camshafts are supplied by a neighboring enterprise — the Nizhny Novgorod Foundry.
The project was implemented with the support of the Industrial Development Fund. After the line reaches full capacity, the localization level of the G 2.5 engine will reach 80%. This will reduce dependence on imported components and increase the stability of production of commercial and passenger vehicles by the Gorky Automobile Plant.
