The first train for the high-speed railway will begin assembly at "Uralskiye Lokomotivy" in the coming months. As Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin stated at the plenary session of "Innoprom-2026", the production of unique electric trains is being launched specifically in the Sverdlovsk region. A number of experimental units and assemblies have already been manufactured, and the assembly of the first train will start before the end of 2026. Simultaneously, the construction of the production complex is being accelerated: five new buildings with a total area of 67 thousand square meters are 75% ready.
The complex will include a body component building, a commissioning building, a traction drive test center, and design and administrative buildings. As Danil Znachkov, First Deputy General Director of "Sinara-Development", reported, the installation of local treatment facilities and ventilation systems has been completed, and the pouring of finished floors and installation of engineering networks are underway. The construction, initiated by the decision of the President of the Russian Federation, should transform the site into a single ecosystem for the development, production, and testing of rolling stock capable of reaching speeds of up to 400 km/h.
The pilot HSR route will connect Moscow and St. Petersburg. An order for over 1 million tons of materials has already been placed on the domestic market for the construction of the railway — this includes rail products, rebar, bridge steel, and steel cables. The launch of the first train assembly in the Urals, rather than in the European part, signifies a reliance on the competencies of "Uralskiye Lokomotivy" as the lead integrator of a project critical for the technological renewal of the entire transport engineering industry.
