The Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex has completed the construction of the "Konstantin Posyet" gas carrier tanker. As reported by the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping, this is the second vessel in a series of Arctic gas carriers built under the technical supervision of the Primorsky Branch of the Far Eastern Branch of the RS.
The vessel's characteristics are impressive: length 300 meters, width 48.8 meters, Arc7 ice class, and a propulsion complex with a power of 45 MW. The cargo capacity is 172,600 cubic meters of liquefied natural gas. The gas carrier was built with the financial support of VEB.RF and will be operated under the Russian flag under a long-term time charter contract with the "Arctic LNG 2" company. The home port is St. Petersburg.
The "Konstantin Posyet" is designed for year-round transportation of LNG in the Arctic waters. The naming ceremony took place at "Zvezda" on June 18, 2026, and the vessel's crew will consist of 29 Russian sailors. The commissioning of the second gas carrier strengthens Russia's position in Arctic shipping and meets the needs of the "Arctic LNG 2" project for a specialized fleet.
