AI-powered smartphones gain popularity among Russians

Increased supply directly fuels interest

Smartphones with built-in artificial intelligence are taking over shelves, but not pockets. As reported by TASS at "Megafon", over the year, the share of such gadgets in the operator's assortment soared from 6.5% to 16%, but only 2.8% of Russians actually use them.

The increase in supply fueled sales — up 27%. The operator only considered models whose AI functions are technically available and operational in the Russian Federation, without taking into account blocked options. The main consumer is men aged 37 to 47, who make up 40% of owners. Women account for 42% of the audience, and young people aged 25–36 account for 22%.

For now, neural networks remain the privilege of flagships. "Megafon" predicts that full-fledged AI functionality will massively come to the mid-price segment in the next two to three years. It is then that the gap between the share on the display and real penetration will begin to narrow.
