The first domestic cinema lens for ultra-wide frames was presented at "Innoprom-2026"

Serial production will begin in 2027, and test samples will be delivered to film studios in 2026

Russian films will be able to be shot with domestic optics that provide a wide cinematic frame without stretched edges and darkened corners. Shvabe Holding of Rostec for the first time presented a finished anamorphic lens – the first and so far the only device of its class in Russia.

The cinema lens was showcased at the international industrial exhibition "Innoprom-2026". It is expected to replace foreign counterparts that Russian filmmakers use for shooting most modern projects.

The development was created by specialists from the Lytkarino Optical Glass Plant. The 80 mm model became the first finished product in the new line. It also includes lenses with focal lengths of 40, 60, and 100 mm.

Such optics work in an unusual way: a complex system of cylindrical lenses compresses the image horizontally, allowing the camera to capture a wider area. The front lenses have an unusual concave shape, which creates the characteristic ultra-wide frame.

Unlike conventional wide-angle lenses, anamorphic optics do not distort the image at the edges and do not darken the corners of the frame. In addition, they allow for the creation of characteristic cinematic effects.

Serial production of Russian cinema lenses is planned to begin in 2027. The first pilot batch will consist of four sets. Test samples will be manufactured in 2026 and offered to film studios. Shvabe notes that the cost of domestic equipment will be lower than foreign counterparts.

LZOS lenses have high aperture, so they can be used in low light conditions. The anamorphic coefficient, i.e., the ratio of the image vertically and horizontally, is 1:2.

The new products are designed for digital cinema cameras with PL mounts. Adapters can be used for cameras with other types of mounts.

In the future, such equipment is planned to be supplied not only to Russian customers but also to EAEU and CIS countries. Today, anamorphic optics are considered a global standard in the film industry.
