Starting July 9, the "Fuel Dispensing Control" system will begin operating at all gas stations in the Altai Republic, automatically tracking the volumes of gasoline and diesel fuel purchased. The new system is being implemented by regional authorities to enforce temporary restrictions on fuel sales due to a sharp increase in demand.
Now, to purchase fuel, drivers will need to present a vehicle registration certificate. The gas station operator will enter the vehicle data into the information system, after which the program will be able to determine if the established daily limit has been exceeded.
If the car owner attempts to purchase fuel again beyond the permitted volume within 24 hours, the system will automatically block such an operation.
According to the head of the Altai Republic, Andrey Turchak, digital control is necessary to reduce the speculative demand that has been observed at gas stations in Gorno-Altaysk and the region's districts in recent days.
At the same time, the authorities plan to launch an interactive map with up-to-date information on fuel availability at gas stations and the timing of subsequent deliveries. Data for the service will be provided by the gas station operators themselves.
Currently, fuel sales restrictions are in effect in the region. At most gas stations, one customer can purchase no more than 50 liters of gasoline or 100 liters of diesel. In Gorno-Altaysk, as well as Choysky, Turochaksky, Mayminsky, and Chemalsky districts, the norms are reduced to 30 liters of gasoline and 50 liters of diesel fuel.
