Belarus received a huge batch of modernized T-72BM2 tanks

Specialists of the 140th Repair Plant have mastered the production of vehicles with enhanced protection and firepower

The Armed Forces of Belarus received the first battalion of modernized T-72BM2 tanks. The new version of the Soviet combat vehicle was developed and put into serial upgrade by specialists of the Belarusian 140th Repair Plant with the participation of the State Authority for Military Industry of the country.

The ceremony of handing over the equipment was attended by the Chairman of the State Authority for Military Industry of Belarus, Dmitry Pantus, and the Minister of Defense of the Republic, Viktor Khrenin.

The T-72BM2 is a deep modernization of the basic T-72B tank, which received updates in key areas - protection, firepower, and mobility. Belarusian enterprises carried out a full range of work: from preparing design documentation to organizing serial production of modernized vehicles.

According to the State Authority for Military Industry of Belarus, the upgraded tank has already passed tests and confirmed its stated characteristics. In addition, the vehicle was evaluated by crews who participated in the preparation for the international "Tank Biathlon" competitions.

After the transfer of equipment, specialists from the State Authority for Military Industry will continue to support the T-72BM2 throughout its entire life cycle - from operation to possible further design improvements.
