At one of the Moscow Military District training grounds, a unique Russian development – the UN-001 aircraft-type drone – was shown for the first time. The well-known Molniya drone served as the basis for the new product.
However, the UN-001 design differs from the Molniya, which is considered disposable due to its plastic body and lack of landing gear.
The UN-001 can perform up to 150 landings. The body is made of polyurethane foam, and the drone develops a speed of up to 150 km/h, said Viktor Lobanov, CEO of the development company.
A total of three configurations are provided; it is possible to install a different engine and wings upon request. The drone can be used for reconnaissance, air defense, and training.
Lobanov did not specify how exactly the aircraft-type UAV is used for air defense tasks. Apparently, it is equipped with a homing head and is capable of ramming other drones.
