An orbital three-axis L-positioner with a lifting axis of rotation has been put into operation in the bogie shop of BMZ. The equipment became part of the program to create serial production of mainline and shunting locomotives with increased carrying capacity and reduced fuel consumption on an asynchronous drive.
The new L-positioner is used in the processing of bogie frames for electric locomotives of the Novocherkassk Electric Locomotive Plant, the production of which is deployed at the BMZ bogie shop site.
The key function of the unit is the precise positioning of large-sized parts during welding, which allows the operator to maintain an optimal angle and ensure uniform seam formation with a smooth transition to the base metal.
According to the company's specialists, the equipment significantly expands the technological capabilities of the site. Unlike previous solutions, the new positioner can not only rotate and tilt the structure, but also lift it vertically. This gives the welder access to all sides of the product without using an overhead crane, which reduces auxiliary operations and speeds up the production cycle.
The installation, adjustment, and commissioning of the equipment were carried out by a Russian manufacturer, who also provided technical support during the launch phase. Currently, the unit operates in normal mode with full load.
The company notes that in the future, a second similar positioner is planned to be introduced. This should further increase the throughput of the site and reduce the load on existing equipment.
Earlier, "Pervy Tekhnichesky" reported that BMZ accelerated the welding of locomotive frames by 3 times thanks to a new robot. Hybrid technology already processes up to 24 bogie structures per month and helps expand production.
