The newest ice-class seagoing tugboat "Kapitan Sergeev" of Project 23470 has been accepted into the Pacific Fleet (TOF). The solemn ceremony took place in Vladivostok. TOF Commander Viktor Liina presented the auxiliary fleet flag to Captain Yuri Zhukov.
"Kapitan Sergeev" was towed to Vladivostok via the Southern Sea Route. This is the second vessel of Project 23470. The lead tugboat "Andrey Stepanov" is already performing tasks to support TOF ships in Kamchatka.
What the Project 23470 vessel is designed for:
- towing in ice and clear water
- piloting ships and vessels in ports, mooring
- extinguishing fires on water and coastal structures
- refloating grounded vessels
- maintaining ships on course in difficult weather conditions
Engineers from SK "Viking" worked on Project 23470. The vessel "Kapitan Sergeev" was laid down in 2016 at the Yaroslavl Shipyard. It was launched in 2021.
