Lunar Dust and Equipment Failure: FMBA to Build a Test Site for Practicing Worst-Case Scenarios on the Moon

Russia has begun preparing cosmonauts for work on the actual lunar surface. As TASS reported, the Federal Medical-Biological Agency (FMBA) specialists have started creating a ground-based analog complex – a "lunar test site" – simulating planetary conditions.

The focus is on extravehicular activities. Crews will have to practice airlocking, equipment maintenance and repair, and most importantly, protocols for cleaning off lunar dust when returning to the habitat module.

A separate block involves preparing for emergency situations, assessing psychological resilience, and teamwork during prolonged peak loads.

In parallel, simulators for sensory and vestibular systems are being created – the cosmonaut's body must be ready for work immediately after lunar landing.
