New details have emerged about the latest PD-35 high-thrust aircraft engine. Thanks to the use of composite materials, the mass of the power plant has been reduced by more than 600 kg.
The PD-35 fan diameter is 3100 mm, and its design incorporates over 2300 parts manufactured using additive technologies.
The gas generator has been unified with the PD-14 family, which should simplify the further development of the domestic engine line.
The PD-35 is being created as a new-generation engine for prospective wide-body aircraft. However, even a thrust of 35 tons is not the limit; ODK has already achieved an excess of this indicator in demonstration tests.
"Pervyy Tekhnicheskiy" conducted a large test comparison of the PD-35 with serial heavy engines from Rolls-Royce and General Electric.
