The cost of repairing the legendary An-2 engine has increased 10-fold in the last 6 years. The reason is the general increase in maintenance costs and a shortage of components.
If in 2020, a major overhaul of the ASh-62IR cost approximately 800 thousand rubles, by 2026 its cost had already risen to 8 million rubles, said Vladimir Antonov, president of the An-2 Operators Association.
He clarified that the repair of the aircraft itself costs an average of up to 23 million rubles, depending on the specific work.
Despite this, there are no plans to abandon the ASh-62IR engine yet. The engine is installed on almost all An-2s in operation, and there is still no full-fledged Russian replacement for it. Currently, about 300 An-2 aircraft remain airworthy.
The modernized An-2 "Russkaya Arktika" retained the famous ASh-62IR, but the engine was seriously upgraded. The aircraft received a modern turbocharger; the practical ceiling almost doubled to 4500 m.
