Engineers successfully tested new production technologies for the modernized Angara-A5M rocket. Now, design and technological solutions are ready for use in the construction of full-fledged flight rockets.
The tests themselves took place at the Omsk branch of the Khrunichev Center – PO “Polyot”. There, specialists tested the strength of an analogue of the lower bottom of the oxidizer tank. It belongs to the universal rocket module URM-1M and bears the greatest load in the tank structure.
To test the strength, engineers measured the ultimate pressure at which the part breaks.
The results showed that the part has a high margin of safety. This proved that the methods of rotary drawing and friction welding work reliably in the manufacture of parts and assemblies of URM-1M fuel tanks.
