Rosstandart has for the first time approved a GOST (state standard) that strictly regulates the protection of fuel canisters from accidental opening. The document, published on the agency's website, comes into force on April 1, 2027, and covers single and multi-chamber containers for gasoline and diesel.
The document describes methods for testing the container. A canister, half-filled with water, is frozen for eight hours at -30ºC, and then heated at +70ºC. This is followed by a durability test: 250 full cycles of opening and closing the lid.
The final stage is to test the protective mechanism on people aged 50 to 70, who must operate the lock strictly according to instructions. The effectiveness threshold at each stage is no less than 90%.
According to media reports, sales of 20-liter canisters jumped by 60% in a month. 30-liter containers increased in price by 77% — up to 1800 rubles per piece.
