The RD-0124 family rocket engine successfully passed its 600th fire test, confirming its high resource, stable operation, and status as one of the most efficient oxygen-kerosene propulsion systems in the world. The anniversary launch was conducted by specialists from the Chemical Automatics Design Bureau, where this line of engines was developed.
The unit's specific impulse reaches 359 seconds, which remains one of the best indicators for engines of this class.
The power units develop thrust of about 30 tons and are characterized by efficient mixture formation in the combustion chamber, a reliable cooling system, and stable operation during the launch phase. These solutions ensure high engine efficiency and stability of its characteristics during operation.
Based on the proven design, a new generation engine, the RD-0124MS, has been created. Its thrust has been increased to 60 tons, and its specific impulse reaches 361 seconds. This modification is intended for the promising Russian Soyuz-5 launch vehicle, which will become one of the key developments of the domestic space industry.
