Yandex has introduced a new feature to the "Alisa AI" chat — AI characters. As the company reported, unlike regular communication with a neural network, where the voice assistant solves everyday tasks, the characters are endowed with their own character and manner of communication. One can listen and support, another can give a "steel kick" and self-development advice.
The technical feature of the solution is long-term dialogue memory. The character remembers where you left off last time and can return to discussed topics. If the conversation went astray, it is enough to start the dialogue anew. Currently, more than 30 ready-made characters are available — from a popular blogger to an anime heroine. If nothing fits, you can create your own character by giving it a name and a detailed description of its behavior. For example, create a witty cinephile who constantly jokes and quotes TV series characters.
The new feature is available on alice.yandex.ru, in the "Alisa AI" and "Yandex — with Alisa AI" applications, as well as in "Yandex Browser". In the future, AI characters will have voices and will be able to discuss current events with users.
In fact, Yandex is transforming the neural network from a utilitarian tool into a personalized virtual interlocutor that keeps the user in the ecosystem through emotional engagement.
