In September 2026, the first stage of the "Port Bukhta Sever" oil terminal will begin operations on the Taimyr Peninsula. This was announced by Rosneft CEO Igor Sechin at a meeting of the company's shareholders.
Currently, the almost 800-kilometer pipeline is being completed at the facility. Simultaneously, pumping stations and a tank farm are being built for receiving and shipping oil. The "Vostok Oil" project is one of the largest in the Russian Arctic. The resource base of the fields in the Krasnoyarsk Krai exceeds 5 billion tons. The port's capacity will reach 115 million tons per year, and all oil will be transported by ice-class tankers via the Northern Sea Route. The investment volume in the project is 10 trillion rubles. It is expected to create about 100 thousand jobs.
The first shipment from the terminal is scheduled for the end of September. Rosneft emphasized that the launch of the port will be a key stage in the development of Arctic fields and the Northern Sea Route as a global transport corridor. Full capacity is planned for 2030. The project also includes the construction of shift camps, energy centers, and an airfield. Currently, more than 30 thousand people are involved in the construction. By 2030, the number of workers will increase to 100 thousand. Oil from Taimyr will be supplied to both the domestic market and for export to Asian countries. The implementation of the project will strengthen Russia's energy security and its position in the Arctic.
