Digital Ruble to Become Metro Ticket: "Troika" to Be Topped Up with New Method

The project will be launched together with the Bank of Russia and VTB after the payment infrastructure is prepared

In Moscow, in the summer of 2026, testing will begin on topping up the "Troika" transport card using the digital ruble. The new payment method will appear in the "Metro Moscow" application.

At the first stage, testing participants will be able to purchase season tickets and top up their "Wallet" balance. If the test is successful, the function will become available to all passengers.

The project is being launched jointly with the Bank of Russia and VTB. According to Moscow Deputy Mayor Maxim Liksutov, the digital ruble will allow paying for travel without entering bank card details.

After successful testing, passengers will be able to conveniently and safely top up their transport card using the digital ruble.
