The Saratov-based group of companies "Sovremennye Dorozhnye Tekhnologii" (SDT) has introduced a mobile kit for diagnosing, certifying, and assessing the condition of roads. Its main feature is that it does not require a special vehicle for operation: the equipment can be installed on almost any crossover or station wagon with R15–R19 wheels.
The new equipment complex is attached to a regular car using magnetic and pneumatic fasteners. The distance sensor is fixed on the wheel rim.
The system measures the distance traveled, longitudinal and transverse slopes, turning angles, road profile parameters, curve radii, presence of banking, and visibility distances. The data is linked to GPS/GLONASS coordinates.
To assess the evenness of the pavement, the kit calculates indicators according to profile standards and simultaneously measures the road condition across two wheel tracks.
The declared range for measuring the distance traveled is from 1 to 1,000,000 m with an allowable relative error of ±0.1%. Turning angles are measured from –180 to +180° with an error of ±1%.
Video recording is carried out by two cameras. This allows collecting data on the roadway, junctions, exits, right-of-way, and roadside area. Materials are saved as individual frames with georeferencing, timestamps, and links to road infrastructure elements.
Additionally, GC "SDT" is developing the Android application "Object Survey". It runs on smartphones and tablets with Android 7 and higher. Through the application, information can be entered about culverts, service facilities, advertising structures, bus stops, bridge structures, exits, intersections, and junctions.
