The first new generation turnstiles in the capital started operating in Moscow

The devices support Troika, SBP, and biometric payment

The first new generation turnstiles, manufactured in Moscow, have started operating at Delovoy Tsentr metro station. Currently, eight such devices have been installed in the western vestibule, with nine more to be added later. The launch was announced by the Moscow Department of Transport.

The new turnstiles are designed in a compact, ergonomic body. The Department of Transport believes that this design helps save space and increase the station's throughput capacity.

The equipment supports all current payment methods. These turnstiles can be used with a virtual Troika card, via the Faster Payments System (SBP), and using facial recognition technology.

The devices feature bright colored backlighting and haptic feedback. They help passengers better understand that the payment has been successful.

For now, the turnstiles are on temporary pontoons. This is necessary to configure and test the equipment before full launch.

According to Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport, more than 4,500 new generation turnstiles will appear in the metro, on the MCC, and MCD by the end of 2031. They will operate faster than older models, and their compact design will allow more devices to be installed at stations – approximately 20% more.
