In Kaluga, Russia Day was celebrated brightly – prototypes of existing combat aircraft and helicopters took to the sky. However, the main headliner of the show was a model of the promising MiG-41 interceptor fighter.
The unusual show was presented by the aviation sports club "RusJet". Its head, Pavel Lapshov, said that a turbojet engine with a thrust of 25 kg was installed in the aircraft model.
Despite the aircraft itself weighing 17 kg. That is, its thrust-to-weight ratio is greater than one.
Lapshov added that a complex system for deflecting control surfaces, wing leading edges, and an all-moving stabilizer was developed for the MiG-41 model. Moreover, they are used throughout the flight, and not only during takeoff and landing.
The ailerons deflect according to an atypical algorithm together with the nozzle – this provides extreme maneuverability at zero speeds.
The MiG-41 remains the most anticipated project from the Mikoyan bureau. The aviation industry allowed for the appearance of a new interceptor in the second half of the decade, but there is no official confirmation yet.
