New serial T-90M "Proryv" tanks began to be built at Uralvagonzavod immediately with the "Arena-M" active protection system. The combat vehicle's turret with this system was spotted in a photo report on the trip of the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of Russia in the Ural Federal District, Artem Zhoga.
"Arena-M" detects threats using radar systems and automatically destroys attacking ammunition at a safe distance from the vehicle.
There have been no official statements yet about the start of full-scale deliveries of T-90M with "Arena-M". However, the photos became the first public confirmation that the complex is already being installed on serial vehicles.
Military expert Evgeny Damantsev noted that the maximum speed of targets hit by "Arena-M" is up to 1.2 km/s. However, to destroy drones specifically, it was necessary to increase the viewing angle of the radar system from 20 to 80 degrees.
