Kazan engineer invents canister barrel for tanks against drones

Danil Semyonov's system shoots down UAVs at a range of up to 30 m

A Kazan designer has registered a new self-developed firing device for protecting armored vehicles, primarily tanks. The system involves using ordinary hunting cartridges for automatic destruction of drones on approach.

The device is a metal protective module with dozens of tubes pointed in different directions around the vehicle. Inside each tube is a standard 10- or 12-gauge shotgun shell with buckshot.

A camera system is responsible for detecting threats, and the control unit automatically selects the desired barrel and fires in the direction of the drone.

Semyonov noted that at a distance of up to 30 meters, the cloud of damaging elements is capable of compensating for aiming errors and increasing the probability of hitting drones.

A binocular camera is provided for target acquisition, which determines the distance and coordinates of the target in space. After calculating the trajectory, the electronics activate one of the cartridges aimed at the desired sector.
