Yandex has increased its fleet of self-developed electric bicycles from 20,000 to 30,000 units and expanded its rental geography to more than 20 cities. The list includes Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Ufa, Krasnodar, Tyumen, Perm, Chelyabinsk, Rostov-on-Don, Kaliningrad, Krasnoyarsk, Voronezh, Volgograd, Orenburg, Lipetsk, and Penza.
The Yandex Bike is equipped with a 240 W motor and a battery with a continuous monitoring system that prevents overheating and short circuits. The built-in IoT module forcibly limits the maximum speed to 25 km/h. The frame is made of aluminum. The range on a single battery reaches 80 kilometers, and battery replacement is possible at Yandex Lavka dark stores, bike centers, and charging lockers.
The service is available not only to Yandex couriers but also to employees of other delivery services, as well as companies with their own logistics — individual and corporate B2B tariffs are provided for them.
Yandex began developing its own electric bicycle for couriers in 2022. The first Yandex Bikes became available for rent in 2023.
