RUTUBE will build its own data processing center in the Leningrad Region. This was announced at SPIEF-2026 by Sergey Kosinsky, Deputy General Director of Gazprom-Media Holding and Head of Digital Assets.
Construction of the data center is planned to begin in late 2026, with commissioning scheduled for 2028. The initial capacity of the site will be at least 3 MW, and the number of servers will exceed 2,000.
The new data center will be used for storing and processing video, as well as for developing AI directions and ML solutions. The company expects that its own infrastructure will increase the stability of the video service and expand the platform's computing capabilities.
The data center will use chiller-based cooling with free cooling elements – natural cooling elements. According to RUTUBE's calculations, the power usage effectiveness (PUE) will not exceed 1.3.
Currently, RUTUBE's infrastructure includes more than 7,000 servers and 380 CDN nodes in 40 cities in Russia and abroad. According to Kosinsky, in the "attention economy," platform stability directly affects how much time a user spends with content, so the service is developing its computing base taking into account the growth of video volumes, AI, and its own media technologies.
